For replacement purposes, no — they are interchangeable. LT1000P is the base model, LT1000PC is a variant with a slightly different cap color, and LT1000PCS is a multi-pack SKU designation. All three use the exact same filter cartridge and housing dimensions. The GlacierFresh GF-1000P 3-Pack replaces all three variants with a single filter design — no need to identify which specific suffix your fridge uses.

The fastest way is to check the label on your currently installed filter — it will show the part number directly. Alternatively, open your fridge's filter compartment (upper left interior) and look for a sticker on the housing. No — they are different filters and not interchangeable. The LT700P is an older filter used in previous-generation LG refrigerators, while the LT1000P (ADQ747935) is used in newer models. They have different physical dimensions and housing designs. If you install the wrong filter, it won't seat properly and may leak. Always verify your current filter's part number before purchasing a replacement.

The 200-gallon rating is specific to the LT1000P filter housing design — it's LG's specification for this filter type, not a limitation of the GlacierFresh filter media. The filter housing size and carbon block volume determine capacity. For a typical family of 4 using the dispenser regularly, 200 gallons translates to approximately 5–6 months of use, which aligns with the 6-month replacement schedule. Filters claiming 300 gallons for this housing should be viewed with skepticism, as the physical carbon volume doesn't support that claim.

No — and this is true of all refrigerator inline carbon filters, including the OEM LG LT1000P. Carbon block filters are not designed to remove bacteria, viruses, or biological contaminants. They excel at reducing chlorine, sediment, rust, taste, odor, and certain chemicals. If you have concerns about biological contamination (e.g., from a well or after a boil-water advisory), you need a UV purifier or reverse osmosis system in addition to your fridge filter.

Don't drink it yet — flush the filter first. A plastic or chemical taste in the first few cups is caused by carbon fines and manufacturing residue in the new filter media. Run and discard at least 2 gallons (roughly 8–10 dispenser cups) before drinking. This is standard procedure for any new carbon block filter, OEM or third-party. After flushing, the water should taste clean and neutral. If the taste persists beyond 3 gallons of flushing, contact our support team.

The GF-1000P filters all water flowing through your LG refrigerator's internal water system — this includes both the door dispenser and the ice maker. There is no separate filter for the ice maker; both are fed from the same filtered water line. So by replacing this filter, you're improving the quality of both your drinking water and your ice simultaneously.

Two things happen when you skip filter replacements. First, filtration performance degrades — a saturated carbon block stops adsorbing contaminants effectively, meaning you're drinking unfiltered water despite having a filter installed. Second, a clogged filter can restrict water flow, putting strain on your fridge's water pump and potentially reducing ice maker output over time. In extreme cases, a severely clogged filter can cause pressure buildup. Replacing on schedule protects both your water quality and your appliance.

Glacier Fresh provided a great replacement option to the factory cartridges at lest than 1/3 the cost. The product was received promptly and the cartridges fit perfectly. I have put off replacing the original filters for a long time, but will be replacing them regularly with the Glacier Fresh replacements.
