What's the difference between the standard GE XWF filter cartridge and the new XWFE filter cartridge?

The main difference between the standard GE XWF filter cartridge and the new XWFE filter cartridge is that the XWFE has a built-in RFID chip. This chip allows the refrigerator to detect leaks and verify that a genuine filter cartridge is installed. Although they look the same, the XWFE is designed for newer "smart" refrigerators, while the XWF is for older models.

Will refrigerator filters remove beneficial minerals?

Glacierfresh GE XWF water purifier cartridges remove harmful contaminants while retaining beneficial minerals such as calcium and magnesium. For reverse osmosis (RO) water purifiers, a post-mineralization filter cartridge can be installed if additional minerals are needed.

Why is the water flow from my refrigerator slower after changing the filter cartridge?

A slower water flow after installing a Glacierfresh GE XWF water purifier is usually caused by residual air in the pipes or filter cartridge. Running water for 2-3 minutes (approximately 1-2 gallons) should restore normal water pressure. If the water pressure does not return to normal, the filter cartridge may be clogged and needs replacement.

What are the black fine particles appearing in the water after replacing the filter cartridge?

It is normal for the first 1-2 gallons of water filtered by the Glacierfresh GE XWF water purifier filter cartridge to have a slightly metallic taste, activated carbon powder, or cloudiness. These phenomena will disappear after flushing 2-4 gallons of water. If the odor or particles are still present, it is usually because the filter cartridge was not fully tightened.

What are the common causes of refrigerator filter leaks?

If your Glacierfresh GE XWF water purifier filter is leaking, stuck, or cannot be properly locked, first ensure the sealing ring is installed correctly, then fully rotate the filter to the locked position. Most leaks are caused by air trapped in the pipes; flushing with 2 gallons of water will remove the air. For stuck old filters, pull them out while rotating; do not pry the filter housing.

My water dispenser is leaking or dripping after replacing the refrigerator filter. How do I troubleshoot the problem?

Had an issue with the receipt of the product. I ordered a 6 pack of filters. When product arrived, there were only 4 filters in the shipment. I sent an email to support@glacierfresh.com.
