What's the difference between the LT700P and the LT1000P — how do I know which one my LG fridge needs?

These are two different filter generations and they are not interchangeable. The LT700P (ADQ36006101) is used in older LG refrigerator models, while the LT1000P (ADQ747935) is used in newer models made after approximately 2017. The easiest way to confirm which you need is to check the label on your currently installed filter — it will say LT700P or LT1000P directly on it. You can also match your fridge model number against our compatibility list. Installing the wrong filter will result in a poor fit and potential leaking.

Is the ADQ36006101 the same as ADQ36006102 — can I use either one?

Yes — the ADQ36006101 and ADQ36006102 are functionally identical filters with different suffix numbers reflecting minor production revisions. Both are LG's part numbers for the LT700P filter. The GlacierFresh GF-700P replaces both ADQ36006101, ADQ36006101-S, ADQ36006102, ADQ36006102-S, and ADQ36006113 interchangeably. You don't need to match the exact suffix — any of these part numbers confirm the GF-700P is the right filter for your fridge.

How do I install the LG LT700P water filter? Step-by-step instructions?

Installation is tool-free and takes under a minute:

1.open your fridge and locate the filter in the upper left corner of the refrigerator compartment.
2.Push the old filter in slightly and twist counterclockwise to unlock and remove it.
3.Insert the GlacierFresh GF-700P and twist clockwise until it clicks firmly into the locked position.
4.Run and discard at least 2 gallons of water through the dispenser to flush the new filter.
5.Press and hold the "Filter Reset" button on your control panel for 3–5 seconds to reset the indicator light.

My LG fridge filter light is red but the water still tastes fine — do I really need to replace it?

Yes — replace it even if the water tastes fine. The filter indicator is a time/volume-based reminder (triggered at 200 gallons or 6 months), not a real-time water quality sensor. Taste is a lagging indicator — by the time filtered water starts tasting bad, the carbon block has been saturated for a while and contaminants like chlorine byproducts and sediment have already been passing through. Replacing on schedule ensures consistent protection, not just acceptable taste.

Does the LT700P filter work for Kenmore refrigerators too, or only LG?

It works for both. The Kenmore 9690 and 46-9690 are the Kenmore-branded equivalents of the LG LT700P — Kenmore sources many of its refrigerators from LG and simply rebrands the filter under a different part number. The GlacierFresh GF-700P is a direct replacement for both LG and Kenmore models using this filter housing. Only the part number differs; the filter itself is identical.

Why is my water dispenser dripping or leaking after installing the new LT700P filter?

Dripping or leaking after a filter change is almost always caused by one of two things: (1) The filter isn't fully seated — remove it and reinstall, twisting clockwise firmly until you feel and hear a definitive click. A partially locked filter will leak around the O-ring seal. (2) The O-ring is damaged or misaligned — inspect the O-ring on the new filter before installation to ensure it's properly seated in its groove. If leaking persists after a proper reinstall, contact our support team — we'll send a replacement filter at no charge.

Can I stretch my LT700P filter past 6 months to save money?

It's not recommended, and here's why it can actually cost you more. Once the carbon block is saturated at 200 gallons or 6 months, two things happen: (1) Filtration effectiveness drops sharply — you're essentially drinking unfiltered tap water while paying for a filter. (2) A clogged filter restricts water flow, which puts strain on your fridge's water pump and ice maker over time, potentially leading to costly repairs. The GF-700P 2-pack is priced to make staying on schedule affordable — the cost per filter is significantly lower than OEM, so there's no financial reason to push past the replacement window.

Is coconut shell carbon actually better than other types of carbon in water filters?
