FAQ

What are the exact steps for installing this refrigerator water filter for the first time?

Remove the old filter by pressing it firmly until it pops out. Slide the new filter into the filter slot and push it in until it is securely in place. After installation, reset the filter indicator by holding down the button on the refrigerator door.

How long should I wait before using the water dispenser and ice maker after replacing the filter?

After the new filter is installed and the indicator is reset, run water through the dispenser before drinking and making ice to help clear the system and prepare the filter for normal use.

How can I tell if the refrigerator water filter is installed correctly?

The filter should slide fully into place and sit securely in the filter slot. If the dispenser works normally and the filter indicator can be reset on the refrigerator door, the filter is usually installed correctly.

Is cloudy water normal after installing a new refrigerator filter?

Cloudy water can happen right after a new filter is installed because air may remain in the water line. Run water through the dispenser until the water becomes clear before drinking.

How much water should be flushed after installing the refrigerator filter?

Flush the new filter through the water dispenser before drinking or making ice. Continue running water until the water is clear and tastes normal.

Why do ice cubes look unusual in color after replacing the filter?

Ice color or appearance may look unusual if air or loose particles remain in the system after installation. Flush the water dispenser first and discard the first batch of ice after replacing the filter.

How tight should the refrigerator water filter be to prevent leaks?

The filter should be pushed fully into the filter slot until it is secure. Do not force it beyond the correct position. If leaking occurs, remove and reinstall the filter, making sure it is properly seated.

How often should this refrigerator water filter be replaced?

Replace the GlacierFresh GF092X filter every 6 months or after 200 gallons of use, whichever comes first.
