Triple Filtration Technology

Coconut shell activated carbon blocks ensure maximal reduction rates and maintain all valuable minerals.

Particle Filtration blocks larger contaminants
Micro Filtration removes medium contaminants
Adsorption Filtration removes microscopic contaminants

Excellent Filter Materials

Coconut shell activated carbon offers a very high density of 0.5µm pore size, allowing for the best filtering of contaminants.

Lead-free, BPA free, it can remove 97.9% chlorine and improves water's smell and taste.

Built-in Chip

The built-in chip in the filter is a perfect fit with the refrigerator with no need to worry about the refrigerator sending out error messages.

Perfect fit refrigerator filters with exquisite engineering design without water leakage issues.

NSF 42/53 and 401 Certified

The materials and construction are in compliance with the NSF 42 standard. Removes 97.9% chlorine and improves water’s smell and taste.

FAQ

No — as long as the replacement filter includes a genuine RFID chip. The GlacierFresh GFRPWFE™ has a built-in RFID chip that communicates directly with your GE refrigerator's authentication system, exactly like the OEM GE RPWFE filter. You won't see error codes, warning lights, or chip-read failures. This is the most critical difference between RPWFE-compatible filters — always verify the replacement includes an actual RFID chip, not just a bypass workaround.

The RPWFE filter is located inside the refrigerator compartment in the upper right area, typically behind a hinged cover. Installation is tool-free:
1.Open the filter cover and push the old filter in slightly, then twist counterclockwise to release.
2.Pull the old filter straight out.
3.Insert the GlacierFresh GFRPWFE™ and twist clockwise until it locks with a firm click.
4.Run and discard 2–3 gallons of water through the dispenser to flush the new filter.
5.Press and hold the "Reset Filter" button for 3 seconds to reset the indicator light.

The RPWFE has a larger carbon block volume than filters like the LT1000P or XWFE, which allows it to process more water before saturation. GE designed this filter for their larger-capacity French door refrigerators, which typically have higher water usage. The GlacierFresh GFRPWFE™ matches this 300-gallon / 6-month capacity using the same premium coconut shell carbon block technology. For a family of 4 with regular dispenser use, 300 gallons typically aligns closely with the 6-month schedule.

Yes. The GlacierFresh GFRPWFE™ is NSF 53 certified, meaning it has been independently tested and verified — not just claimed — to reduce health-based contaminants including lead, mercury, asbestos, benzene, and cysts, in addition to chlorine, taste, and odor. NSF 53 is the higher health-based standard (vs. NSF 42 which only covers aesthetic contaminants). This certification is verified by IAPMO, an accredited third-party testing organization, not self-reported by the manufacturer

There are two common causes Reddit users identify for this: (1) The filter isn't fully seated — remove it and reinstall, twisting clockwise firmly until you feel a definitive click. A partially locked filter won't make proper RFID contact. (2) The filter indicator wasn't reset — after installation, press and hold the "Reset Filter" button for 3 seconds. If the error persists after a proper reinstall and reset, try removing and reinserting the filter once more. If the issue continues, contact our support team — we'll troubleshoot and replace if needed.

The indicator light is a scheduled reminder based on time and estimated water usage — it's not a real-time contaminant sensor. It triggers at approximately 300 gallons or 6 months. You should replace the filter when the light turns red even if the water still tastes fine, because taste is a lagging indicator of filter saturation. Conversely, if your household uses the dispenser very heavily, you may reach 300 gallons before 6 months — replace it then regardless of the calendar. The light is a useful prompt but shouldn't be your only signal.

A third-party RPWFE filter is completely safe when it meets two criteria: (1) It includes a genuine RFID chip (not a bypass) and (2) It carries legitimate NSF certification from an accredited independent lab. The GlacierFresh GFRPWFE™ meets both — it has a built-in RFID chip and is NSF 53 certified by IAPMO. The OEM GE RPWFE filter costs significantly more but delivers the same NSF-certified filtration performance. The primary difference is price, not protection — you're paying for the GE brand name, not superior filtration.

★★★★★
